The 4-Minute Missed-Call Fix Every Contractor Should Set Up Tonight

iPhone alone cannot text back a missed call. You need a small free app or a business phone system. Pick the path that matches your setup.

Path A: You only use a personal iPhone

The free Slick app does this in 3 minutes.

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone

  2. Search Slick Auto-Reply

  3. Tap GET, then tap Install

  4. Open the Slick app

  5. Tap Sign In With Apple, allow notifications when prompted

  6. Tap the menu icon, top left

  7. Tap Auto-Reply

  8. Tap Missed Call

  9. Toggle Auto-Reply ON

  10. Tap the message box, delete the default

  11. Paste this:

Hey, this is [Your Name] at [Business Name]. Caught your call on a job. Text me back here and I will get you sorted in the next hour.
  1. Tap Save

Path B: You use OpenPhone (or Quo, the new name)

OpenPhone's auto-reply lives in the web app, not the phone app. Easiest on a laptop, but works on iPhone Safari.

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone

  2. Go to my.openphone.com

  3. Sign in

  4. Tap the gear icon, bottom left

  5. Tap Workspace

  6. Tap Phone Numbers

  7. Tap your business number

  8. Scroll down to Auto-Replies

  9. Tap During Business Hours

  10. Tap Missed Call Auto-Reply

  11. Toggle it ON

  12. Paste the script above

  13. Tap Save

  14. Scroll back up, tap Outside Business Hours, repeat steps 10 to 13 with a slightly different message if you want

Step 3 for both paths: Test it

  1. Open your Phone app on iPhone

  2. Tap your work number, hit Call

  3. Hang up before voicemail

  4. Wait 30 seconds

A text fires from your work number to your personal phone. You are live.

What to expect

One contractor ran this last week. 9 missed calls. 7 text replies back. 4 booked jobs.
